What is Botox?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is often injected into the facial muscles to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe lines in the forehead, between the eyebrows and crows’ feet, as well as other areas. BOTOX® Cosmetic is the first FDA-approved prescription medicine used for smoothing out dynamic wrinkles of the face.
The active ingredient in Botox injections is called onabotulinum toxin A, a natural protein that relaxes over tightened muscles, especially those that cause wrinkles. It blocks the release of a substance called acetylcholine, gradually reducing muscle activity of the injected muscles. This results in a dramatic reduction or even elimination of wrinkles around the Botox injection sites like the forehead and eyes, usually within 3 to 7 days after injection.
Botox injections are often used to treat:
- Forehead Lines
- Frown (11) Lines
- Crow’s Feet
- Brow Lift or Brow Balance
- Bunny Lines
- Gummy Smile
- Smoker Lines
- Wrinkled and Dimpled Chin
- Jaw Reduction and Slimming of the Face
- Chest Rejuvenation (Cleavage Wrinkles)
- Excessive Sweating (Palm, Soles & Underarm Hyperhidrosis)
- Neck Bands
- Teeth Grinding(TMD)
- Slim Legs (calf muscles reduction)
